Psalm 121

Standard

I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?  My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.  He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you— the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.  The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life;  the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

  1. I’ve camped out in the Psalms a lot this year and am going through Psalm 27 right now. Psalm 121 is one of my favorites though and is so encouraging. Thanks for sharing this Emily.

  2. Speaking of the Psalms, I noticed on your reading list that you finished “A Shelter in the Time of Storm: Meditations on God and Trouble” by Paul Tripp. I just ordered this today since I know it focuses on Psalm 27. What did you think of the book ?

  3. Joe, I can’t recommend that book enough. it was wonderfully encouraging, challenging and faith building for me. Its funny, instead of Psalm 121 today I almost posted Psalm 27! :)

I don’t know if you’ve ever read his book on Psalm 51… its written in the same style… 50 or so 2-3 page meditations on a certain aspect of the Psalm. My favorites are the poems. The author does an excellent job of catpuring the emotion and feel of the Psalm and doing it in such a way that turns your focus to Christ. I hope you enjoy it! :)
